Charles, if you read this, my husband's case similar. I have all documents BUT many Governors have signed Exec Orders to stop lawsuits if COVID anywhere on death certificate, protecting all healthcare entities. Lawyers (injury/death) refuse to consider case because of EO. I have filed complaints with Med St Pub Health and license boards, as well as Joint Commission. This has been a waste of time as response has been we do not get involved as well as they were just doing their job. Getting lawyer is problem...look at social media boards where people are pleading for help. Is there a 2 year limit from time of death?

This is heartbreaking. I am betting there are way more stories out there like this-but family may not even realize the hospital killed their loved one. I am convinced my uncle was killed by his hospital care, but I am the only one in the family to believe this. He too was sedated due to "fighting his care" and then put on a vent. He came off the vent, but it wasn't long before he was no longer able to communicate. He called my step-mother and told her to get her son (who is state police) to get him out of the hospital because of how he was being treated. The whole family basically brushed it off, as he was 1 IQ point away from being mentally retarded. The hospital was called, however, and what a coincidence-it was right after that he was sedated. He was fine before that. Never again was he fine. I have heard of others with similar stories.

I'm just learning about the use of opioids to sedate people who were fighting whatever they didn't like. We can't let them get away with that.

She should get a itemized hospital bill for starters. I don't see how they can not give this to her. It may take specifically asking a few times, or in writing, but it will show exactly what drugs she was given each day.

I would add that Jill should sign a release of information to obtain Allison's COMPLETE medical record while she was hospitalized, everything from radiology & lab reports, pharmacy, ancillary therapies, doctors' & nurses' progress notes, all the way down to bed pads & toothbrushes dispensed. She should obtain copies of every notation or entry associated with Allison's care. Jill is entitled to this as Allison's guardian & next of kin. Steadfastly agree that the itemized bill & insurance EOB's will be a vital tool for discovering medications that her insurance company, Medicare or Medicaid were charged for. Every med included in the itemized bill should match up with documentation of administration of that same med in the med profile, nurse's notes and records in general. I will be praying for you Jill! My condolences to you for the tragic loss of your daughter. God Bless.

My heart breaks for you as well Jill. May God grant you peace, comfort, and justice. I was hospitalized for 2 months, had two days of remdesivir before I refused any more, and was ventilated for 5 weeks. My life is forever changed, but I'm blessed to be alive. It took some repeated asking to get it, but my itemized hospital bill does show every dose of remdesivir, propofol, medazolam, fentanyl, antipsychotics, etc. I was administered. I pray your lawyers can get complete information for you and justice will be served in this lifetime for your daughter.
